Our Competition Judges

Chef Nicholas Lodge is one of the foremost Master Cake Artists in the world. He has been sharing his knowledge and skills through classes, books, and DVDs for over 35 years. When Nicholas began training as a pastry chef, he had no idea how far this path would eventually lead him. The field of sugar art has introduced him to royalty and celebrities and has transported him around the globe.

 

Nicholas is internationally known, not only for his incomparable skills in sugar art but also for the quality of his demonstrations and classes. He inspires enthusiasm in every one of the students in attendance. Over the years his teaching tours have taken him to 26 different countries, and he has introduced sugar art into unlikely places such as India, China, and Fiji.

Jeff Erbach has over 20 years background as a filmmaker, juror, Board member, drama teacher and arts educator, advisor, mentor and coordinator for post-secondary institutions, funding agencies, and arts organizations.  He served with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada as the Creative Manager, nurturing complex relationships and supporting Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists, churches, schools, tribal councils, and others, on regional and national scales. 

 

As the Manager of Community and Cultural Development for the City of Regina, Jeff developed strategies and policies for all municipal ventures within the artistic, cultural and social development sectors. He also led the creation of the City’s first-ever Cultural Plan which set out Regina’s long term vision for the development of the Arts, cultural heritage, cultural industries, and interculturalism.  Jeff is currently the Executive Director of the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie.

Cristy Ellen is a small-town Saskatchewan girl who has embraced the arts in all aspects of life! She is the Music Director and Afternoon Drive show host for Q99 Radio. Over her 9 years in the Peace Region, she has had the opportunity to be involved with the local arts and culture scene. From MCing music festivals, showing her textile and acrylic pieces in local art shows to the 2018/2019 Wearable Art installation at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie. 

 

Cristy has spent a considerable amount of time volunteering in the region as well including chairing the 2015 Special Olympic Winter Games, Relay for life Grande Praire 2019, and sitting on the MS Society  Advisory Council for Grande Praire.
